For more than a decade, secVision Networks has been trusted to deliver electronic security solutions for Musson Jewellers, one of Sydney’s most respected luxury jewellers. Known for their fine craftsmanship and bespoke creations, Musson required a security partner who could protect high-value assets while maintaining the elegance and discretion their brand represents.
Project Overview
In early 2025, Musson undertook a landmark expansion – relocating within the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) to a new and larger space on Level 1. The new Grand Boutique & Workshop was envisioned as an opulent yet intimate environment “bathed in light from magnificent arched windows”, bringing together design, craftsmanship, and experience.
Musson once again appointed secVision Networks to design and implement a comprehensive electronic security system that would protect their growing operation without compromising the visual beauty of this prestigious heritage setting.
The Challenge: Working Within a Heritage Landmark
The QVB is one of Sydney’s most significant heritage buildings, with strict regulations governing any works that could alter its original structure or aesthetic. For our team, this meant traditional methods of cabling, mounting, and equipment placement were not an option. The challenge was two fold:
- Preserve the heritage fabric of the building, adhering to all conservation guidelines.
- Deliver maximum security coverage for a luxury retail space containing high-value jewellery, without visible hardware detracting from the boutique’s refined interior design.
Our Solution: Design Precision and Discreet Integration
Our design and installation team approached the project with meticulous planning, working closely with Calida Projects, the appointed builders, to align security infrastructure with the architectural and aesthetic requirements of the fitout.
Key aspects of our solution included:
-
- Cabling Strategy: All cabling routes were carefully mapped to follow existing floor cavities and voids within the building’s structure, eliminating the need for intrusive works. Where surface cabling was unavoidable, we ensured conduits and trims blended seamlessly with interior finishes.
-
- Discrete Camera Placement: High-definition CCTV cameras were positioned for optimal coverage while remaining unobtrusive within decorative mouldings and interior design.
-
- Custom Fixtures and Fittings: Specialised mounting hardware and low-profile housings were selected to complement the boutique’s high-end aesthetic.
-
- Integrated Access Control and Alarm System: The solution combined secure access management, intruder detection overlaid with video verification, and 24/7 monitoring including live audio challenge, ensuring protection at every level of operation.
-
- Master Key System: Designed to integrate with the electronic access control system, for layered physical and digital security.
Project Outcome
The Musson Grand Boutique & Workshop opened in October 2025 – a stunning space that perfectly reflects the brand’s craftsmanship and prestige. Beneath its refined finishes lies a fully integrated security system that protects both the workshop and retail environments.
Our discreet installation ensures that every element of the system serves its purpose without drawing the eye, allowing customers to immerse themselves in the luxury and creativity of Musson’s world – confident that the store is protected by best-in-class technology.
Key Outcomes
- Security infrastructure designed and installed within heritage building restrictions
- No visible cabling or fittings, preserving the luxury aesthetic
- Seamless coordination with Calida Projects and Musson Jewellers management
- Integrated CCTV, Access Control, Alarm, and Master Key System
- 24/7 monitored protection with live video monitoring and audio challenge for high-value assets
- Long-term client relationship spanning over 10 years
Delivering security in a building like the QVB demands precision and respect for heritage. Our team worked hard to design a system that was both technically advanced that is practically invisible - exactly what a client like Musson requires.
