secWatch Virtual Guard Service installed for Multiplex construction sites

Multiplex is the construction company awarded with the NSW Government project to build the new Sydney Fish Markets. secVision Networks was engaged to provide CCTV and monitoring services to Multiplex to keep this construction site secure, along with their storage facility on Glebe Island.

There have been multiple occassions when our Virtual Guards have detected theives entering the site at night, and we have been able to scare them away by issuing an audio challenge. We use line crossing analytics in the CCTV cameras to analyse the video feed. When an object is detected crossing the line, an alarm is triggered in our Security Operations Centre. Our Virtual Guards view the video feed to determine the cause of the alarm and take appropriate action.

The markets are set to open in 2024.

We have been monitoring construction sites for Multiplex since 2018, when they commenced work on the new central acute services building at Westmead Hospital. secWatch CCTV cameras provided surveillance across the construction site. The $900 million Westmead Redevelopment opened in 2020.  This was our first site to come onboard to be monitored in-house with 24 hour monitoring at our Security Operations Centre (SOC). Other Multiplex development sites that we secure are :

  • 388 George Street, an A-Grade commercial building in Sydney CBD, and
  • NextDC Sydney Data Centre in Macquarie Park.

Our clients are excited by the prospect of their construction sites being monitored by our virtual guard service. The remote monitoring of our mobile camera units gives construction site managers peace of mind after hours. We can keep an eye on their materials, plant & equipment remotely.

Ryan McGovern, Security Vision Networks Tweet

The benefits are many. Our detector activated High Definition camera systems are monitored remotely by trained security operators. The cameras are recording crisp, sharp images that cover the site and are streamed back to our SOC.

If an intruder is seen onsite they receive an audio challenge and the appropriate authorities are dispatched when required.  If our SOC operators see a fire they can dispatch the Fire Brigade immediately.

Footage is recorded and can be viewed by authorised staff. The site manager can log on at any time during the night to view the site from their smart phone or laptop.

  • Virtual Guard Services saves construction clients up to 50% of the cost of a static guard
  • Events can be seen instantly
  • Cameras can be relocated as the site grows and changes during the construction
